Project eARTh and Hayfield Primary School invite you to their celebratory launch of Trail Tales! These solar powered audio benches are on the Sett Valley Trail and in Bluebell Wood, Hayfield and at the press of a button you can hear a tapestry of music and spoken word on the theme of nature, changing seasons and memories. Members of Project eARTh and year 3 of Hayfield Primary worked with musician Phil Girling to create these soundscapes which are also available on CD and on our Youtube Channel.
High Peak Community Arts have worked in partnership with Derbyshire County Council Countryside Service and the project was supported by Derbyshire Intergenerational Strategy.
An amazing time was had at the celebratory unveiling event on Wednesday 18th June. These large-scale ceramic pictures were created by Project eARTh for Dinting Railway Station, with artist Adrian Holt.
We met at Dinting Station, 11am to see the artwork, and then went on to Bradbury House for refreshments and photographic display of the project, from 11.45am.
New Mills Project eARTh enjoyed a great Comic/Cartoon project with artist Jim Medway exploring the local history of New Mills through making our own comic strips – here is the result.

New Mill’s Project eARTh group created a beautiful felted art work, which was on display at The Moorland Centre, Fieldhead, Edale S33 7ZA. However, since the exhibition are has been turned into offices for Moors for the Future, we are looking for a new home…
The ceramic and aluminium human sundial can be found in High Lee Park, off St. Mary’s Road, New Mills, Sk22 3BW.
The sun dial is just outside High Lee Hall, near the giant horse chestnut tree, with a plaque that explains how to use it to tell the time.
The time capsule is buried nearby, with details lodged with the International Time Capsule Society at Oglethorpe University, Alabama, USA, New Mills Town Council, and all 6 New Mills primary schools. It is to be dug up in 2061.
